Wadabwa, Davie seal Mozambique deals
Be Forward Wanderers striker Peter Wadabwa and TN Stars forward Stain Dave have completed moves to Mozambican top-flight Mocambola League.
Wadabwa has signed a one-year contract with Desportivo de Maputo while Dave has joined ENH Vilankulo on loan for a season.
Former Flames goalkeeper Simplex Nthala facilitated Wadabwa’s deal which is subject to renewal based on performance.
In a telephone interview from Maputo on Friday, Wadabwa said he was relieved at clinching the deal as his future looked uncertain after being ‘released’ by the Nomads.
“As you know, Wanderers refused to renew my contract and put a condition that if I wanted then they would have to cut my salary, a development I found to be unfortunate considering all that I have done for the club.”
“But God is good and little did I know that He had other plans for me. What I will be receiving here will be three times higher than what I was getting at Wanderers,” he said
The Mozambican club’s vice-president Danilo Correia praised Wadabwa, saying the team is impressed with his skills, behaviour and attitude.
“We expect that his experience can help us,” said Correia.
Wadabwa, who scored seven goals for Wanderers last season, has played for Jomo Cosmos, Golden Arrows and Blackburn Rovers in South Africa.
In a related development, Kasungu-based TN Stars director Wisdom Chimgwede yesterday confirmed Davie’s year-long deal.
The prolific forward had an impressive debut season in the TNM Super League in which he finished as third leading score with 14 goals, two behind Golden Boot winner Chiukepo Msowoya and just a goal shy of runner-up Gastin Simkonda.
